HISTORY OF THE FOOD SOURCING/PRODUCTION IN HAWAII-
Healthy systems are affected by multiple thing, but more specifically, oxygen, carbon, and nitrogen cycles play a huge role. Oxygen is in high importance, because in order for a system to thrive, survive, and grow, oxygen is a very needed quality. More importantly, clean oxygen in the air is a necessity, or the products within the system will not be healthy and at its best production. Carbon also plays a huge role, because if it contains toxins and it is not clear in the air, it can harm products, as well as causing a sickness towards humans and animals in nature. Lastly, the cycle of nitrogen is an impactful quality, because it can change the composition of species due to susceptibility of certain organisms to the consequences of nitrogen compounds. Things in which affect the world globally, such as factories, gas, and more, can all be changed from negative impacts to the air to good if just taken step by step in a positive direction. All together, if the air within the eco system is clean, the creatures living in it will be able to survive and grow to the best of its ability.
Furthermore, within the system approaches, it is clear that you cannot change one thing without changing another. If wanting to change something to being healthier, there are many steps needed, many in which being to change all of its components into a healthier process too.

FOOD JOURNAL DATA ANALYSIS-

Based on my data, it shows that majority of the food I consume, is processed, and they are store-bought products. Because of this, many of the food I eat is not organic, in which makes sense, because I do not eat many vegetables or organic substances in which I grow myself or buy from organic product-filled stores. However, although I do eat many foods bought in the grocery store, I also make sure to include locally sourced meals in my diet as well. Thankfully, I am able to retrieve my own locally sourced products, because of my family hunting, growing, diving, and fishing for our own food supply every now and then. Overall, my diet is pretty balanced between the three analysis groups.
Compared to the class as a whole together, there are many similarities, as well as many differences. For example, we all mainly eat food in which are processed and store bought. We also all do consume some type of organic foods, but the level of organic foods listed are still much less than those of being processed. Within the field of locally sourced foods however, that is where the class meets the option of "yes" the least, because it is more difficult to retrieve purely locally sourced meals in most peoples daily lives.
how might we be more responsible for our own production?-
As there are many possible steps we could take to be more food secure on our island, I have specifically a few ideas in mind in which rise above the others. One of these steps are that we could grow products in our own personal garden, rather than relying on store-bought items. That way, we can be clear of any possible infestations or bacteria residing in or on our products, because it is not processed or shipped from any outside vendor. You will also know what will be going on within the growing process of your products. In addition, as a whole, we could come together a community and fund a locally grown farm or pond, growing our own food and raising our own animals. This way, we could have both locally sourced items and organic all in one place. Lastly, it is possible for us to even clean our products before using them, especially if they are store bought. With this, we should also jot down our diet and food consumed in order to make sure we balance the fields of foods properly.
In simplicity, if these steps, with the addition of many others were to be followed in a constant cycle, 1000 years from now they could grow and expand into something great. If listened to and committed to the plan, we will be able to live in a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle within the field of food and dieting.

DOCUMENTATION OF MY GROWING SYSTEMS-
In this class, I have been assigned into the indoor Hydroponics system. The Hydroponics system work by being a filtration system. For 15 minutes every hour, the water rises up to the plant to give the nutrients and food in which it needs, and then after 15 minutes, resides back down. It is not a constant water-filled system, but it does not contain animals like the aquaponics system does. It is sustained fully by a cycling water system combined with air, feeding it its food and nutrients every so often, but just enough for it to thrive. The hydroponics system also does not contain soil, but rather just rocks within its pots. More specifically, in our current Hydroponics system, we are currently growing lettuce.
