During our hike around campus, I learned about things like the reason no building will ever be built above Keopuolani because that was Kamehameha's highest ranking wife. I also learned who "Midkiff" and "Smith office" were named after. Walking around campus made me thankful that we are able to be a coed school, because back then, the road separated the girls and the boys from each other. In addition, my favorite part of the campus hike was learning the background of the names of the buildings, for example like how the boys dorms are the names of the Kamehameha aliʻi and how the girls dorms are names of Kamehamehaʻs Wives. Being in the HPH Center as one of my classes, I was able to look at some documents of what the school was planned to look like and compare it to what the school is now. From this, I was able to see that there are many similarities, but even more changes. I seen pictures of the school with forest and trees standing where we now have classrooms, and this made me feel special because overtime this campus has gotten better and better.
